These are the ground rules when we work together: what the service includes, what it costs, who owns what, and what you can expect from me. No fine print.
Who you're hiring
Carlos Andrés Mejías Mieses, a sole proprietor doing business as Cas Web Design, in Puerto Rico. By using this site or hiring the service, you accept these terms.
What I do
- Website design and build, in WordPress or hand-coded, depending on what suits your business.
- Search engine optimization (SEO).
- Technical consulting and automation.
- Post-launch changes and maintenance, at the published prices.
The free demo
For many businesses I build a demo before you pay anything. That's exactly what it sounds like: free and with no obligation. Looking at the demo doesn't commit you to buying it, and I won't bill you for having looked.
Until you buy it, the demo remains mine. I can show it, change it, or take it down whenever I want.
Price and payment
The project price is set before we start and doesn't change midway. If you ask for something outside what we agreed, I tell you and give you the price before doing it — it never shows up as a surprise on an invoice.
Refunds
There are no refunds. The reason is simple, and it's in your favor: you see the finished site before you pay. You aren't buying a promise or a mockup — you're buying something you already looked at, on your screen, with your photos and your content. If you don't like it, you don't buy it, and nothing happens.
Post-launch changes
Change prices are published on the changes and maintenance page and those are the ones that apply. If a change has a fixed price, that's the price. If it's a range, I confirm the exact number before touching anything.
The Maintenance Plus subscription is billed monthly, covers up to 3 text or image changes per month, changes do not roll over from one month to the next, and you can cancel any time.
What's included and never billed
As long as you're a client, these three things are never charged:
- Hosting for the site.
- Keeping the site online and working.
- Keeping your contact form working.
Your domain is yours
When the project includes a domain, the domain is registered in your name and you own it from day one — it isn't held under my name or in an account you can't access.
The first year is included in the project price. After that I don't charge you a renewal fee to stay with me, and if you ever decide to leave, you take your domain with you. I'll give you whatever is needed to transfer it. I don't hold it, I don't use it as leverage, and I don't charge you to release it.
What I need from you
- Real, accurate content: what your site says about your business comes from what you give me. If you hand me a price, an opening hour, or a warranty, I assume it's true.
- The right to use what you send: if you give me photos, logos, or copy, I assume they're yours or you have permission to use them. If a third party makes a claim over material you provided, that's on you.
- Reasonable turnaround: if the project stalls because I'm waiting on your material, the delivery date moves.
Who owns the site when it's done
Once paid, your site's content is yours: your copy, your photos, your brand, your domain. I keep the right to reuse the techniques, base code, and design patterns I use across all my projects — that's my craft, not your content.
Showing your project in my portfolio
Unless you tell me otherwise, I may show the work I did for you in my portfolio, on social media, and in sales material. If you'd rather it not appear, tell me and I'll take it down. No explanation needed and it changes nothing about the service.
What I can't promise you
This is where a lot of people sell smoke, so let me be direct:
- I can't guarantee you the number one spot on Google, or any specific position, or a timeline to get there. Nobody can — anyone promising you that is lying. What I do is leave the site technically ready to compete.
- I can't guarantee a number of sales, calls, or customers. The site is a tool; results also depend on your offer, your prices, and your market.
- I'm not responsible for outages in services I don't control (hosting, Google, Meta, the domain registrar), though I will help you resolve them.
Limitation of liability
My liability for any claim related to a project is limited to what you paid me for that project. I'm not liable for lost profits, lost data, or indirect damages.
Ending the relationship
Either of us can end the relationship at any time. If you leave: you take your domain and your content, and work already paid for stays paid for. If the site is hosted with me, we'll coordinate the move so it doesn't go down.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
If this changes
I may update these terms; the date above says when it last happened. Changes don't apply retroactively to a project already agreed and paid for.
